Overview

The Galaxy Tab runs on an Android 3.1 OS  which is designed specifically for tablets. The Android system is very popular because, unlike Apple, it is an open operating system. This means that the the consumer can customize and configure the device any way that he or she wants. The Android platform on the Galaxy Tab is clean and simple. It runs fast and there is not a lot of clutter with unnecessary programs or icons running. This is a huge incentive for many users.

With a USB 2.0 connection, transferring files to and from the Galaxy Tab is very easy, a feature that some of its competitors cannot boast. While Samsung offers music and media hubs where you can purchase content, it is also easy to transfer your existing media files to the Galaxy Tab.

The Galaxy Tab works seamlessly with Google programs such as Gmail, Chrome, and Google Maps. It is compatible with all major media formats, so if you need to listen to audio or read a document, chances are you will be able to do so on your Galaxy Tab. One of the selling features of this tablet is that it does have the ability to run Adobe Flash, which allows it to open many webpages that its competitor the Apple iPad 2 cannot.

Business Use

One of the biggest selling points of the Galaxy Tab over its competitors is that it is marketed to be an excellent business tool. While many tablets are simply hyped for the entertainment factor, few strive to be as useful to business people as the Galaxy Tab. One of the primary ways it is optimized for business is that it allows you remote access to your business network. With an integrated communication system through Unified Communication solutions, you can stay connected to the office no matter where you are.

This tablet isn’t just great for entertainment, it also has many features which make working easier. It comes preloaded with Polaris Office, which is compatible with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and PDF files. Samsung also offers a Security Suite with relationships with SAP, Cisco AnyConnect, Exchange ActiveSync, Sybase, and Cisco WebEx, which all offer you the chance to stay connected and on the job in a safe and secure manner.

In addition to its standard features, Samsung also offers an additional keyboard or desk dock, which transforms the Samsung Galaxy Tab from a tablet to a working netbook computer.

Entertainment

Although it is really useful for business use, Samsung doesn’t forget about entertainment with this tablet. The screen has a high 1280 x 800 resolution, which results in a crisp, clear picture HD picture. The screen is bright, the color is vibrant, and the picture is unmatched. The web interface is also extremely fast, so if you want to watch a movie on Netflix or Hulu, you won’t need to wait around for slow load times.

While it is excellent for watching TV and movies, the Galaxy Tab also excels in photo quality. The front-facing 2.0 megapixel camera and rear facing 3.0 megapixel camera takes very decent photos and are both much better than most competing tablets.

High resolution, HD display
